10 Things You Pay for that are Free at the Library

1. Books ( Hardcovers, ebooks and audiobooks)

Books are expensive, averaging about $28 for a hardcover. Buying five books a year would cost almost $150. Stop in at the library to browse our print books and books on CD, or visit us online at http://www.blackgold.org.

For the digitally inclined, these are our platforms where you can download free ebooks and audiobooks:

2. Magazine & News

We offer several different magazines and newspapers at the library, but we also have a huge online magazine collection. Zinio is advertised as "The World's Largest Newsstand." All you need for access is a library card.

3. Music (CD's and Digital)

We have music CDs and an amazing online collection that you can stream straight through your phone. Check out our collection on Hoopla.

4. Access to a Librarian

Before there was Google, there were librarians. Our staff are here to help you, just ask!

5. Internet / Wifi

The library provides free internet computers and Wifi throughout the building. We also loan Internet Hotspots that you can check out for a week at a time. Put yourself on the hold list here: Internet Hotspot

6. Movies

Movies and TV shows are some of our most popular items. The library usually has what you're looking for and you can request that we purchase anything we don't have. You can also watch movies on your phone or computer through our digital service, Hoopla. Just sign up with an email and your library card.

7. Learn a foreign language

Ever dreamed of learning a foreign language from the comfort of your own home, on your own time? Pronunciator makes this possible, get started with your library card here.
